DIVORCE AND CHILD CUSTODY
CRIMINAL MISDEMEANORS
The County Court at Law hears cases against those charged with misdemeanor crimes, most commonly DWI and Family Violence.  Though important, this is actually only a small portion of the Court's cases.
Family Law cases are the most common type of case heard in the County Court at Law.  In fact, over 75% of all Family Law cases in Hopkins County find their way to the County Court at Law.
LAWSUITS AND CONTRACT DISPUTES
PROBATE
When the amount of money at issue is less than $200,000, a civil lawsuit will often be heard in the County Court at Law
Wills and other probate matters that are under dispute are heard in the County Court at Law.
CHILD SUPPORT
When the State sues a person for unpaid child support, the case is filed in the County Court at Law.
